A 'KIND-HEARTED' Winchester man died at his home after an allegation led to him being arrested, an inquest heard.

Darren George North, of Woolford Close, Stanmore, died on August 13, 2022.

His mother, Sarah North, told the inquest that he 'always helped his friends'.

She said: “He was a really kind-hearted person. Everyone loved him, nobody had a bad word against him.”

The inquest heard that Mr North's mental health had fluctuated throughout his life, however, it was negatively affected by an allegation that led to his arrest.

Area coroner Jason Pegg said: "He was arrested on August 8 after an allegation. These were simply allegations, but it seems to me that this was the turning point for him."

Mr North's step-mother, Hilary North, said: "He was upset about the allegation. He told me it hadn't happened."

A post mortem, by consultant pathologist Dr Balvinder Shoker, found the cause of death to be hanging.

Mr Pegg said: “On the evidence, I am satisfied he intended the outcome.”

The coroner gave a verdict of suicide.

He said to the family: "I'm sure you have very happy memories of him. You have my sincere condolences."
