FORMER Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Tottenham that he won't stage a similar walkout to the one he performed at St Mary's to take the vacant Argentina job.

Pochettino left Saints in 2014 and there was speculation he might leave White Hart Lane in a similar fashion to manage the country of his birth.

Yet he has insisted he is happy at Spurs following links that he would take the role as Argentina manger.

The 44-year-old, a former Argentina international, was reportedly on the shortlist to succeed Gerardo Martino, who resigned as head coach of the national side after last month's Copa America final defeat to Chile.

But Pochettino, having led Spurs to a third-place finish in the Premier League last term, wants to stay at White Hart Lane.

"I think the speculation is normal because I am an Argentinian coach at a top club in England," Pochettino, currently in Australia on Tottenham's pre-season tour, was quoted as saying in several national newspapers.

"There are a lot of rumours that appear in the media but I am happy at Tottenham and for that reason, this is not the right moment."
