It’s a huge disappointment to the residents of Q and R parking zones in Winchester that our elected and prospective candidates are not willing to answer questions about parking restrictions that have affected their normal routine.

The residents would like to know if our city councillors, Martin Tod and Chris Westwood, are going to support them in their quest for free parking between 6pm to 8am and weekends in Tower Street car park like it was before 24/7 charges were introduced.

The residents are now having to pay to park, or walk half a mile to access free parking, as well as paying for on-street permits. The councillors know of the situation and as of April 21 have not responded to requests that have been sent to them for their support. The residents can only surmise that our councillors won’t be supporting them and ignoring the situation is very dismissive.

The residents were told that they would be looked after when any changes to the area were made, so are they being deceitful and obfuscating?

The residents want to know before the local election.

L F White,

On behalf of Q and R permit holders,

Sussex Street,

Winchester
