Peter Symonds College, Winchester, recently awarded prizes to local schools for their part in the new PSC Project.

The schools, including Kings', The Mountbatten, Perins and Toynbee, succeeded in various areas such as presentation and in-depth research.

The project, launched in January 2024, encouraged Year 10 pupils to create short films under this year's theme of 'My World in 2050', covering a range of topics, from the NHS to criminology.

Fiona Webb, Director of Curriculum said: "We devised the PSC Project to equip secondary school pupils with the study and team-working skills they need to enable a smooth transition to sixth form college.

"We also hope that the Project provided a sneak preview into subjects that can be studied at college such as Environmental Science, Economics and Sociology, some of which may not be available as a GCSE within their secondary setting. We were blown away by the calibre of the entries and are already thinking about next year’s theme."

The Year 10 team at Perins School said: "The biggest challenge was finding the time to meet up and work as a team. Everyone had a clear role and we gave ourselves achievable deadlines."
