Philip Glassborow has a pertinently valid point about the A&E unit in Winchester (Chronicle, March 7).

He correctly states that a consultation should include a straight forward question addressing a most controversial issue.

Although seemingly ignored, 17,000 people must be seriously listened to. 

Even though 'it is not vote or referendum' as Dr Lara Alloway, chief medical officer states. 

All the more reason for decision makers to listen to common sense, even if not a 'referendum or vote'.
