AN AUCTION of vacant garages near Romsey, with planning permission for two houses, has been postponed.

The freehold compound with lock-up garages has planning permission from Test Valley Borough Council for two three-bedroom houses. The site had a guide price of £140,000 - £150,000.

The site next to 16 Gurnays Mead in West Wellow, was among 135 lots across southern England listed by Clive Emson Auctioneers in the firm’s February auction – the first of eight this year.

No reason was given for the postponement.

Mike Marchant, senior auction appraiser at the Whiteley-based auctioneers, previously said: “The site currently comprises 12 vacant lock-up garages and benefits from consent for demolition of the garages and the construction of two, three-bedroom houses. We anticipate keen interest.”

A freehold parcel of land backing onto homes in Broughton, near Stockbridge, sold for £13,150, which was £3,150 above the guide price. The 0.12-acre site is adjacent 4 Hinwood Close.

The next auction by Clive Emson Auctioneers ends on Wednesday, 20 March, with bidding opening 48 hours beforehand.

Lot entries close on Monday, 26 February, with the catalogue available from Friday, March 1.
