This year the event is being sponsored by Gentian, Winchester property developer, and proceeds will go to Winchester Hospice.

Competitors run a stretch of 38m, flipping a pancake three times, before handing over to their team mate. Prizes will be on offer for the fastest time and best costumes.

Last year saw a total of 26 teams race with Pilgrims School’s cathedral choristers taking the top spot. For more information or to enter go to winchester-rotary.org/pancake-race.
