As a volunteer in the Cathedral I find the most frequently posed question by visitors is “Where is Jane Austen buried?”

Many of the visitors have travelled a long distance, indeed internationally, to pay tribute to one of the biggest literary figures in the English language and it is therefore very fitting that the project to place a notable statue to her memory in the grounds of the Cathedral has been revived.

Once in place, I anticipate the next most frequently asked question to be “and where can I see Jane Austen’s statue?”
