WINCHESTER Crown Court is currently closed due to a reported burst water pipe.

The pipe is believed to have burst this morning, Tuesday, October 31.

Staff are not allowing anyone into the building apart from barristers.

A Chronicle reporter was told that the closure was caused by a water leak.

A court clerk said that all cases will be postponed.

He said: "No cases will be taking place today. We hope to have our cases resume tomorrow.

"It's a county council water main which has burst so we hope that they can fix it."

There were due to have been more than a dozen separate cases in the six courtrooms.

A council worker attempting to repair the pipe told the Chronicle: "We need to get the water board involved. It looks like fixing it is going to be a one or two day thing.

"It's all damage control at the moment."
