THERE are hours left for people in Test Valley to make sure they are registered in order to take part in the EU referendum.

In order to vote on Thursday June 23, people need to be registered on the Register of Electors and the deadline to register for voting is midnight tonight (Tuesday June 7).

Anyone can register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by contacting Electoral Services at Test Valley Borough Council by calling 01264 368000.

People who are already registered to vote – for example, if they voted in the recent Hampshire police and crime commissioner elections – do not need to re-register for the EU Referendum.

If anyone is not sure if they are registered to vote, contact the council on the number above.

This week Test Valley Borough Council sent out the first batch of packs to UK residents registered to vote in the referendum.

Packs for voters residing overseas were sent out last week.

To apply for postal or proxy voting contact Electoral Services at Test Valley Borough Council, or download an application form via www.testvalley.gov.uk/eureferendum.

The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on Wednesday June 8. Any applications received after this date will not be allowed for the referendum. Proxy vote applications must be received by the council by 5pm on Wednesday June 15.

Further information about the referendum, including details of who is eligible to vote, can be found on www.electoralcommission.org.uk
