THEY want to provide a final resting place for a mum who died suddenly at home.

Dozens of well-wishers will take to the streets in memory of Sarah Williams.

The single mum-of-two began feeling unwell in September and her doctor referred her for scans.

Just a few weeks, on November 3, she died of a heart attack at her Romsey home, aged 44.

Now friends Lisa Walters, 44, and Lynne Preston, 45, have organised the walk which they hope will raise more than £700 to pay for a plot for her ashes and a memorial at St John the Baptist Church in North Baddesley, the village where she lived until 2013.

Any extra money will be put into a trust fund for her daughters Rose, nine, and Grace, seven.

More than 30 people are expected to walk from the Bedes Lea pub in North Baddesley at 10am on March 1 to Romsey War Memorial Park, where they will release dozens of yellow balloons in Sarah’s memory before returning to the pub.

The cafe at the memorial park will open especially to provide refreshments for walkers taking on the seven-mile route.

Lisa, a mum-of-one from North Baddesley, met Sarah when they worked together at a hairdressing salon as 17-year-olds.

She said: “We wanted to do something for Sarah and her family. We wanted a place for Sarah that the girls could visit, lay flowers and remember her.

“She was a beautiful girl, inside and out. She was very kind and she would do anything for anybody.”

Sarah’s daughters have moved in with their grandparents Barrie and Maureen Williams.

Paying tribute, Barrie said: “It’s lovely of them to do this. It was their idea to raise money.

“Sarah was always quick to help other people. She helped at North Baddesley Infant School and All Saints Church where she cooked for the other people’s lunch club and helped with the flowers.

“When she worked for Zurich Insurance she was always helping raise money for charity and organising fundraising events.”

The Co-op in Rownhams Lane, North Baddesley, where Sarah worked part-time until her death, and All Saints Church, North Baddesley are also supporting the fundraising event.
